About One-on-One Sessions

Belly Dance Therapy is a therapeutic method offered individually by Buse. It is created through the integration of dance movement therapy and both improvisational and technical practices of belly dance.

Similar to the Deepening with Belly Dance curriculum and Somatic Dialogue®, it incorporates improvisational practices while adding certain layers from dance therapy methods: self-reflection, free writing, meaning-making or playful engagement with meaning, focusing on a specific theme through movement, and generating new alternatives or solutions through relational exploration. These sessions use belly dance as a tool to support and explore topics such as:

  • Chronic pain (especially in the lower back, neck, and joints)

  • Menstrual concerns (irregularity / painful periods)

  • Challenges related to body image

  • Connecting with sensuality and sexuality

  • Disconnection from feminine energy

  • Feelings of shame or guilt

  • The need to feel safe and at ease in the body

  • Physical blockages or stiffness

  • Supporting a specific need sensed in the body

  • Creativity and self-expression

  • Difficulty taking action or imbalance in life energy

or any other experience you are sensing through your body, even if it is not listed here, can be explored together during the sessions.

These sessions are supportive in nature and take place through movement. While verbal sharing is possible, the primary focus is on exploring these topics within movement and dance. It is best to consider them as a complementary support to your ongoing treatment or therapy processes.

Even if you are not currently experiencing any particular issue and still wish to work with Belly Dance Therapy, you are very welcome to do so. We can determine a direction together.

For a process to be fully embodied, it requires dedicating time to it with a certain level of continuity. However, you are free to decide the frequency and duration of the sessions based on your own circumstances
